Work in the Future

I can imagine a time when I can have a drone tethered to my cell phone and following me around. The drone can provide WIFI, security, and information about what might be happening around me: good and bad.

And, if I happen to be driving / driven at the time, my car can be connected to the drone and the local traffic apps so that I can pay as much attention to my “work” as I might have previously attended to my driving.

I can be wearing a pair of iGlasses with a microphone, heads-up display and a twiddler as my keyboard. WIth these devices connected to the internet through the WIFI Drone, I can do almost anything from almost anywhere.

Work, then, will no longer be a “place” but a response to opportunities and situations and can be delivered from anywhere.

Publish or Perish

I know that you have heard this phrase: Publish or Perish, before but I am trying to apply this advice to myself right now.

I have been writing for many years now and have a few “manuscripts” in various stages of development:

I do intend to use BookBaby as my publisher (didn’t atually) and have all the materials ready (on a thumb drive and a folder on my hard drive) but have not YET (2018) “pulled the trigger” on publishing. This is the worst case of “Fear of Failure” I have ever experienced.

Social Media: The Path To Inkc

Social Media is a growth industry as of this writing in 2015.  My suspicion / expectation is that it will remain a growth industry for many many years to come.

The marketing discussions about Social Media revolve around the notion of Inbound Marketing, differentiating itself from the more traditional Outbound Marketing of the Mad Men era up to recent Advertising and Marketing Campaigns.

Inbound Marketing, in my opinion, is the creation of a desire in the part of a targeted audience to want more info, access, goods and services from someone or some organization creating a Social Media presence.

My idea of “The Path To Inkc” is that each of us individually and in our organizations can benefit from spending some of our traditional Advertising and Marketing money and energy in creating a Social Media presence that will gather the desired followers who will, then, want more of whatever we are offering.

  • How many ways would you be willing to collect income:
    • Full Time Employment with Salary and Benefits?
    • Part Time Employment paid by the Hour or Piece of Work?
    • Signed Master Service Agreement(s) for predefined services, rate and duration?
    • Signed Purchase Order(s) for your product offering(s)?
    • Incorporation of your own new company and the creation of new jobs for yourself and others?

The Corvette

The Corvette.
A man named Tom Nicholson posted on his Facebook account the sports car that he had just bought and how a man approached and told him that the money used to buy this car could’ve fed thousands of less fortunate people. His response to this man made him famous on the internet.
READ his story as stated on Facebook below.
A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said, “I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost?”
I replied “I’m not sure”:
·       it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it,
·       it fed the people who make the tires,
·       it fed the people who made the components that went into it,
·       it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires,
·       it fed people in at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore.
·       It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer
·       and fed the people working at the dealership and their families.
“BUT,… I have to admit, I guess I really don’t know how many people it fed.”
This is the difference between capitalism and socialism/communism (the welfare mentality).
When we buy something, we put money in people’s pockets and give them dignity for their skills.
Whenever government “gives” people something for nothing, they rob them of their dignity, self-worth and their desire for self-improvement, subjecting them to the slavery and tyranny of governmental dependency.
Capitalism is freely exchanging your money for something you value.  Socialism is having the government take your money [taxes] against your will and give it to someone else for doing nothing.
I Think this is well written and well thought out.  If you agree please send it to your friends.  If you disagree send it to your friends anyway, and have a nice day.

Job Seeker Podcast Intro

Brian and I started working on this Job Seeker podcast series around the time we started a Job Seeker meeting at our local church. We advertised the group in the Sunday Church Bulletin and held several meetings with those who decided to attend. It was during these mentoring sessions when Brian suggested we record a series of our Job Seeker tips and post them online.
